Infrared heating How does it work?

Abigail Carruthers, November 25, 2023

When deciding what type of electric heating to install, an infrared heating system is very interesting. Its ease of installation, its purchase price and other great advantages favor the choice. To know its properties and advantages we have prepared this article. Know how they work or how much it costs to have infrared radiators infrapanel fűtés. Know the types of infrared heaters based on the radiation they emit and all their advantages. Interesting truth! Keep reading.

What is infrared heating?
Infrared heating is an air conditioning system for the winter season. Its particularity or main characteristic is that it is not based on heating the air in a room. In reality, this electric heating system emits infrared radiation waves that directly affect the bodies in a place.

Infrared radiation, or IR radiation, is a type of electromagnetic and thermal radiation. Therefore, infrared heating consists of the emission of rays that directly heat solid objects such as walls, floors, furniture and even people. Unlike traditional heating systems, where most, in general, what they do is generate hot air by convection: heat the air and make it circulate in the room.

Its defenders claim that infrared heating is the most ecological that exists. They base this claim on the fact that it does not generate CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, and in turn the useful life is much higher if we compare it to any other type of heating. But why are infrared radiators ecological? Being made with 95% recyclable materials, they take care not only of your home but also of the environment.

How does infrared heating work?
In general, electric heating systems and also those that use other fuels, They provide heat through the air that surrounds us. That is, they heat the air that passes through them and, as it circulates through the room, it is responsible for heating the entire environment.

On the other hand, an infrared heating system does not use air as a heat convection agent. Actually, it takes advantage of infrared radiation to heat the different objects that are within the reach of infrared waves. An infrared heater, for example, is a simple plate that consumes electricity to generate infrared radiation.

The traditional heating systems, such as the gas boiler, they are very vulnerable to drafts caused by open windows or doors or those that do not close properly. Since, when heating the air, if it escapes from the room, we lose all the heat energy that we have given it with an air conditioning unit or underfloor heating.

For its part, infrared heaters, when connected and receiving electrical power, begin to emit infrared waves. This radiation has a certain frequency, causing infrared rays to penetrate the surface of objects or people, heating them. By not heating the air we breathe, an infrared heater is not harmful to the respiratory tract, since it does not dry them out.

In addition, the effect of infrared heating is retroactive. That is, when the bodies that receive the emission of infrared radiation, heat up and in turn, they heat the environment. This way of heating the room is healthy, natural and without fouling the air.

How is this phenomenon possible? This radiation heating happens because the air in the room comes into contact with hot objects, gradually warming up.
